I C the Sea

I
Revisiting my roots and connections to the sea. This painting just poured out of me very quickly in a spontaneous way. I thought about taking it further but like I told Bruce--sometimes you just need to know when to stop. I love the feeling this painting gives me. A stormy night at the beach especially at Pacific Rim Park are some of my favorite pics in my head. Just working to get them out there.

R & R iz my Life

Getting unto the things that bring me joy and one of them is "The Live Act". Many friends in this biz and I have fond memories of the excitement associated with my experiences. Just went to see the "New Pornagraphers" in Stanley Park for the 125th Birthday Bash. They reminded me of a concept album that Paul Gogo did about ten years ago. Very odd. Did you sell your songs, Paul?

You be the Judge-Final Version

Wow, this one was a tough one to finish but it's finally done. The process was emotionally draining but it is out of my head where it's been living for a long time.

New Stuff on the Horizon

Just heard the new Katy Perry song "Pearl". I relate to the lyrics and feel that the message is something that pertains to my life and the relationships I forged with previous husbands. I am out of that hole now and truly feel empowered to fulfill my destiny. Here are the lyrics and my message to women who have had their power taken away is: It is never too late to get your life back.
She is a pyramid
But with him she's just a grain of sand
This loves too strong like mice and men
Squeezing out the life that should be let in

She was a hurricane
But now she's just a gust of wind
She used to set the sails of a thousand ships
Was a force to be reckoned with

She could be a statue of liberty
She could be Joan of Arc
But he’s scared of the light that’s inside of her
So he keeps her in the dark

Oh she used to be a pearl
Ohh yeah she used to rule the world
Ohhhh cant believe she’s become a shell of herself
Cause she used to be a pearl

She was unstoppable
Moved fast as like an avalanche
But now she’s stuck deep in some man
Wishing that they never ever met
She could be a statue of liberty
She could be a Joan of Arc
But he’s scared of the light that’s inside of her
So he keeps her in the dark

Oh She used to be a pearl
Ohh yeah she used to rule the world
Ohhhh can’t believe she’s become a shell of herself
Cause she used to be a

Do you know that there’s a way out
There’s a way out
There’s a way out
There’s a way out
You don’t have to be held down
Be held down
Be held down
Be held down

Cause I used to be a shell...
Yeah I let him rule my world
My world Ohhh yeah

But I woke up and grew strong and I can still go on
And No one can take my pearl
You don’t have to be a shell No
You’re the one that rules your world Ohh
You are strong and you’ll learn
That you can still go on
And you’ll always be a pearl
She is unstoppable

First Project - Repairing the Broken

You seek escape from pain. We seek the achievement of happiness. You exist for the sake of avoiding punishment. We exist for the sake of earning rewards. Threats will not make us function; fear is not our incentive. It is not death that we wish to avoid, but life that we wish to live.
Ayn Rand

This painting is the first I set to repair this weekend. It had an altercation with an ugly, angry, controlling person who wanted to hurt it. As you can see, like me, it not only is restored but better than ever.

My New Beginning

In the name of the best within you, do not sacrifice this world to those who are its worst. In the name of the values that keep you alive, do not let your vision of man be distorted by the ugly, the cowardly, the mindless in those who have never achieved his title. Do not lose your knowledge that man's proper estate is an upright posture, an intransigent mind and a step that travels unlimited roads. Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark, in the hopeless swamps of the approximate, the not-quite, the not-yet, the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish, in lonely frustration for the life you deserved, but have never been able to reach. Check your road and the nature of your battle. The world you desired can be won, it exists, it is real, it is possible, it's yours.
Ayn Rand

Yes, the day is finally here. The journey begins. Seeking that which I have been attempting to achieve my whole life and now I have a place to realize my dreams. My studio. A place to create and feel the freedom to make art without interruptions of everyday homelife. Here are some pics of me moving in with my best buddy and supporter, Joe. Thanks for believing in me and helping me whenever I ask you. You are truly a person who is good.

Pin Hole Photography with Kids

Here are a few of the pics from the project I spearheaded in June 2007-May 2008. A great charity combined with an enriching art experience for my students. Yes, that's right folks, 10 year olds took these pics with a specially designed pin hole camera that advances film. Cool, eh? Check out this website to read a proposal I made to the New Westminster City Council. http://www.newwestcity.ca/council_minutes/0526_08/Regular/Reports/RG2.pdf
